Diesel Creates Denim Dreamland

There is now even more reason to stroll Manhattan’s 5th Avenue, thanks to Diesel Planet which opened its doors last week. At the store’s opening week bash, socialites and sports stars alike gathered for a series of intimate dinner parties. This multi-night extravaganza was catered by some of the city’s most beloved restaurants including Cipriani’s, Peter Luger and Le Cirque and guests dined amid shop windows which had been beautifully transformed into New York City style apartments. The denim giants proved to be the best hosts around with their chic, fun and relaxed set of events.

Taraji’s Cute Cobblestones

Oscar nominee Taraji P. Henson chose Lia Sophia for her appearance at the ICG Publicists Awards in Beverly Hills, California. Taraji, who plays Brad Pitt’s mother in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, was a vision at last Thursday’s event in a black scoop neck sweater and a belted blue silk skirt. On the actress’s wrist were a set of Lia Sophia’s Cobblestone Bangles featuring jet CZ’s set in antique gold. Taraji proved that style comes just as naturally to her as acting does in this perfectly put together ensemble.

With the biggest music event of the year over, it was time for Russell Simmons to play host. The music great opened the doors of his lavish private residence for the Salute to Grammy Award Nominees After Party, giving guests the opportunity to unwind and catch up with one another. The Grammys come but once a year, so party-goers opted to hang on to the night until the bitter end.

The Grammy Guide: Second Edition

The Main Event

With a gap in the schedule from the cancellation of Rihanna, Justin Timberlake stepped up to the performance plate. However JT did get a little help from his friends, including one of his self-confessed idols, the amazing Al Green. The two were backed up by none other than than Boyz II Men and Keith Urban on guitar. This dynamic group brought the house down with an unforgettable rendition of Green’s classic hit, Let’s Stay Together.

Another highlight of the night was without a doubt Jennifer Hudson’s performance of You Pulled Me Through. Hudson moved her crowd to tears, earning herself a standing ovation as well as the Grammy for Best R&B Album. After a year tainted by unthinkable tragedy, Hudson deserves all the praise in the world for her unbelievable strength and courage.

What a superstar!

The Jonas Brothers once again proved the hype is worth it by joining Stevie Wonder on stage for another showstopping performance.

M.I.A didn’t let being nine months pregnant stop her from enjoying a good party. This unstoppable singer stole the show with Kanye West, T.I., Jay-Z and Lil’ Wane to perform Swagger Like Us. The group then went on to take home the Grammy for best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

As for Miss Miley Cyrus and the lovely Taylor Swift, the two chose the Grammys as the perfect platform for their first duet together. Fifteen sounded so beautiful – here’s to it not being their last.

The Grammy Guide: First Edition

Rihanna is the Life of the (Pre) Party

It was certain to be a good night when the 51st Annual Grammy Music Awards heated up with a couple of fabulous pre-ceremony celebrations. At the Verizon Blackberry Party, Timbaland and eternal it-girl Rihanna got the crowd into high gear, setting a high bar for the night that was to follow. Rihanna performed hits such as Umbrella and Disturbia in a black sequins one piece and pair of hot pink heels as proud boyfriend Chris Brown beamed from the audience.

While pal Kanye West caught up with Rihanna at the Verizon party, Joe Jonas did little to prevent the rumors surrounding his suspected romance with Camilla Belle. As the two cuddled in a dark corner of the Boulevard 3 bar all night, an insider confirmed that YES, Joe and Miss Belle are in fact dating.

Meanwhile, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, the legendary Clive Davis played host at his highly anticipated Pre-Grammy Party. Katy Perry sparkled in lavender in preparation to her live performance of I Kissed A Girl, while Miley Cyrus and the tireless Rihanna got in a little face time.

And what’s a good night without a little bit of drama? Grammy organizers scrambled right down to the wire when scheduled performers Chris Brown and Rihanna canceled their appearances at the very last minute. Who would they find to fill such a sought after spot?

The Cabo Effect

A host of Hollywood A-listers waved bye-bye to the California sun late last year opting to ring in their NYE Cabo style. With the year well and truly in full swing now, I’m thinking there must have been something in that Mexican water that has allowed for these following celebs to turn 2009 into 2000 and MINE!

She is stealing more magazine covers than can possibly be counted while remaining America’s sweetest Sweetheart. With Marley & Me as a hit number one film, I suspect Jennifer Aniston is only warming up.

In baby news, Tobey Maquire and his wife, jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, will be adding another tot to their trio this Spring. Maguire and Meyer have one daughter together, gorgeous two year old Ruby.

With a highly acclaimed performance in Sam Mendes’ award-winning film Revolutionary Road, my money is on another fabulous year in the illustrious career of the divine Leonardo DiCaprio.

Speaking of Leo, Bar Rafaeli has stolen his heart and has a body that is the envy of women the world over. The future is looking bright for this beauty and it isn’t just because of her many days spent at the beach.

Other Cabo party-goers who are on a roll include: Kevin Connolly, who contributes to the growing success of Entourage while getting ready for some exciting film projects; Laura Dern, who won a Golden Globe for her performance in Recount after spending a sundrenched vacation with Jennifer Aniston, John Mayer, Courteney Cox and David Arquette; George Clooney, who was not surprisinly the Host with the Most, entertaining guests such as Cindy Crawford, Rande Gerber and Kid Rock under the Cabo sun. Let’s see what this year has in store for Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor.
